The doctors at Priory Gate Surgery have reviewed their prescribing policy for diazepam and will no longer prescribe it for fear of flying. Diazepam is classified as a Class C/Schedule IV controlled drug in the UK. Fear of flying is not considered a medical condition covered under the NHS GP contract and there are safety concerns with the use of diazepam. If you still wish to request a prescription for this purpose, you are welcome to consult a private GP. We also recommend speaking to your pharmacist about over-the-counter alternatives that may help.
