Test Results

We recommend using the NHS App or NHS Services to review your test results. If you have any questions about your results please submit them via Anima.

If you have an abnormal test result we will contact you by email, SMS or phone. Due to the very large number of results we receive, we are unable to contact everyone for normal results. We have no way of tracking samples so it is important to check that your test has been processed and a result received.

Most blood test results are returned the following day but some take longer. We recommend allowing 2-3 days for your results to come back to the practice.

X-ray reports usually take 10-14 days to be reported but can be longer. Ultrasound reports are usually returned in less than 7 days. CT and MRI scans are taking 6-12 weeks to be reported but can sometimes be quicker. We have no influence over the time taken for reports to be completed. Cervical smear results are posted to you directly.

Good medical practice requires that the responsibility for ensuring results are acted upon lies with the person requesting the test. If your investigation was requested by a hospital consultant they will share the result and subsequent management with you.

Note that the practice has a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection and we will only release information to the person to whom they relate unless that person has given prior permission for the release of this data or they are not capable of understanding the results.
